Over the past eight years of implementation, the program has been held annually on an increasingly larger scale, collecting an average of 10 to 20 tons of books and various types of paper each year. Through sorting and reuse, approximately 500–700 sets of textbooks and 5,000–10,000 individual books are redistributed annually to students in remote and disadvantaged areas, border regions, ethnic minority communities, and social protection facilities. In addition, numerous bookcases and community libraries have been established, helping thousands of children gain access to knowledge, improve educational opportunities, and promote equality in learning.
Alongside its educational value, the program also generates positive environmental impacts. Each year, thousands of trees and environmentally friendly products are exchanged, helping promote green consumption, recycling, and waste reduction within communities. The program also serves as a practical platform for thousands of volunteers and attracts widespread public participation at event locations across multiple areas.
As of the end of 2026, after more than eight years of implementation, the program had attracted over 50,000 participant visits and collected and exchanged more than 105 tons of books and paper, along with hundreds of thousands of items, including clothing, school supplies, toys, plastic bottles, milk cartons, and used batteries. In 2026 alone, the program collected more than 10 tons of books and paper, over 15,000 clothing items, toys, and school supplies, as well as more than 6,000 recyclable items. It attracted 7,000 participant visits for exchanges and engaged more than 3,000 volunteers in organizing activities nationwide.
A notable new feature of the 2026 program was the increased emphasis on digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to the exchange process. Accordingly, a support system was introduced at exchange points to help volunteers determine appropriate exchange values based on the quantity and types of items brought in by participants. Rather than relying entirely on manual assessments, AI serves as a recommendation tool, helping make the exchange process faster, more transparent, and more consistent across event locations. This technological application not only reduces the workload of the operating teams but also enhances the participant experience while helping standardize data for reporting, evaluation, and the program’s long-term development.
After collection, all items are sorted into categories to ensure effective use. Textbooks are organized into complete sets and donated to students facing difficult circumstances before the new school year. Selected reference books and storybooks are used to establish bookcases and community libraries under the White Dove Bookshelf Project (Tủ sách Bồ câu trắng). Clothing and other supplies are delivered to disadvantaged areas, while recyclable materials such as paper, plastic, and aluminum cans are processed and transferred to specialized partners for recycling, with proceeds supporting Fly To Sky’s charitable activities.
