Turning Blue Carbon Commitments into Concrete Action
Blue carbon ecosystems play an important role in conserving coastal environments and addressing climate change. However, realizing their full potential requires coordination among relevant stakeholders, appropriate financial resources and effective cooperation mechanisms.
As part of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), UNDP Viet Nam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, will organize a side event under the theme: “How can Viet Nam turn blue carbon commitments into practical solutions for coastal ecosystems and communities?”
The event will focus on exploring ways to strengthen national partnerships, mobilize financial resources and promote regional cooperation to support the conservation and restoration of blue carbon ecosystems.
Introducing the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership in Viet Nam
A key focus of the discussion will be the introduction of the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP) in Viet Nam, along with its action roadmap and opportunities to advance cooperation in this field.
The event will also provide a platform for exchanging experiences with Indonesia and the Philippines, offering perspectives and practical lessons on the conservation and restoration of blue carbon ecosystems.
Through these discussions, the event aims to strengthen connections among partners, expand opportunities for cooperation and explore solutions to mobilize resources for coastal ecosystem conservation and restoration efforts in Viet Nam.
