“A Promise Under the Moon” – VOVO Partners with Fly To Sky to Bring Mid-Autumn Festival Joy and Warmth to Children at Dieu Giac Orphanage

Recently, VOVO E-Commerce Technology Company Limited, in collaboration with Fly To Sky Charity and Community Development Support Social Enterprise Co., Ltd. and The Fly To Sky Charity Organization, organized the “A Promise Under the Moon” program. Featuring a variety of experiential activities, games, and gift-giving, the program brought the joy and festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival to children receiving care at Dieu Giac Orphanage in An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, ahead of the traditional celebration.

Titled “A Promise Under the Moon,” the program draws inspiration from a cherished childhood tradition: every eighth lunar month, the full moon returns, bringing with it colorful lanterns, the rhythmic beats of lion dance drums, traditional Mid-Autumn Festival feasts, and precious moments of family reunion. For the children at the orphanage, this promise continues through acts of care and kindness, meaningful connections, and opportunities to participate in and explore new experiences firsthand.

As part of the program, VOVO and Fly To Sky presented gifts to Dieu Giac Pagoda's orphanage. Beyond their material value, these gifts conveyed the care, affection, and continued support of the participating organizations for the children, helping create a warm and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.

One of the program's highlights was a hands-on Mid-Autumn lantern-making activity. With guidance and support from volunteers, the children took part in every step, from preparing materials and attaching decorative paper to decorating and completing their own lanterns. Rather than focusing on elaborate designs, each lantern became a reflection of the children's personal experiences, creativity, and joy.

The festive atmosphere was further enlivened by a traditional lion dance performance by the Thang Anh Duong Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe, accompanied by the lively beats of Mid-Autumn Festival drums. The children also enjoyed interactive games such as “Full Moon – Crescent Moon” and “Follow the Moon Lady,” group singing and dancing, and opportunities to interact with volunteers. The program concluded with a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival feast, bringing everyone together in a warm and cheerful atmosphere.

Through “A Promise Under the Moon,” VOVO and Fly To Sky aimed to create a welcoming environment where children could play, explore, express their creativity, and experience the care and kindness of the community. A meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival can begin with the simplest things: a handmade lantern, the lively sound of lion dance drums, a game shared with friends, or a heartfelt gift.

Through this initiative, we hope to strengthen connections among businesses, social organizations, volunteers, and the wider community in efforts to support and care for children. By bringing together resources and contributions from different stakeholders, the program not only helped create a more fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival celebration but also opened up further opportunities for children to receive care, experience kindness, and enjoy positive experiences as they grow.

“A Promise Under the Moon” came to a close after a morning filled with laughter. Yet the handmade lanterns, the rhythmic beats of lion dance drums, the games, and the moments shared around the Mid-Autumn Festival feast will remain cherished childhood memories for the children.
