The library was equipped with 8 bookshelves, 7 reading tables and 1,000 children's books, including storybooks, learning materials and supplementary resources. The space was also equipped with an electrical system and decorated with colorful wall illustrations to create a friendly, safe and engaging reading environment for students. On the occasion, Hyundai Thanh Cong Ngoc An also donated 220 backpacks to disadvantaged students at the school.
The establishment of a library with a diverse collection of books not only added educational resources to the school but also created an additional learning space outside regular classroom activities. For students in areas where access to books remains limited, the library provides an opportunity for them to choose reading materials independently, explore new subjects and gradually develop regular reading habits.
The collection was selected according to students' ages and learning needs, covering children's literature, educational books and supplementary materials. These resources can support self-directed learning, language development, critical thinking and broader knowledge beyond the formal school curriculum.
The White Dove Library at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Primary School was the 154th library or bookcase project implemented by Fly To Sky since 2019. The initiative is part of the White Dove Bookcase Project, which focuses on supporting education and promoting reading culture within local communities.
Through the project, social resources are mobilized to establish bookcases, libraries and reading spaces at schools, highland and border-area classrooms, hospitals, shelters, social protection facilities and community reading spaces. In addition to providing books, the project also organizes reading promotion activities, creating more opportunities for disadvantaged children, children in highland areas and ethnic minority communities to access books.
From an educational development perspective, investing in libraries and reading culture can have a longer-term impact than one-time donations. With appropriate spaces and reading materials, students have greater opportunities to develop reading habits, access information independently and strengthen their learning capacity. For schools, libraries can also diversify the learning environment and provide additional spaces for teachers to organize reading, learning and experiential activities.
The project also demonstrates the role of cooperation among businesses, social organizations and local stakeholders in mobilizing resources for education. From the support of Hyundai Thanh Cong Ngoc An and the implementation by Fly To Sky to the coordination of Chu Puh Commune Youth Union and the school, resources were directed toward a specific educational need within the local community.
Expanding reading spaces in areas with limited resources can contribute to narrowing gaps in children's access to knowledge across different communities. However, for libraries to deliver lasting value, investment in facilities and books needs to be accompanied by regular reading activities, the continued updating of collections and efforts to encourage students to use the library on a regular basis.
The project aims to continue expanding reading spaces tailored to the needs of individual communities, creating more opportunities for children to access books, develop regular reading habits and gain additional resources for their learning journey.
