The program was sponsored by Malayan Banking Berhad – Ho Chi Minh City Branch and Maybank Securities Limited Liability Company, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thanh Son Commune and the Board of Management of Lien Son Primary School.

Bringing Safe Kids Lab to Students in a Disadvantaged Community

Thanh Son Commune is home to a large ethnic minority population. Lien Son Primary School is located in Hamlet 7, one of the commune's particularly disadvantaged areas. Many of the school's students come from ethnic minority families, some of whom have continued to face economic difficulties and limited access to educational resources in recent years.

Against this backdrop, establishing a dedicated space for learning and practicing life skills and first aid within the school not only helps improve educational facilities but also creates opportunities for students in disadvantaged communities to access essential safety knowledge and skills through visual, regular, and long-term learning experiences.

From Classroom Knowledge to Personal Safety Skills

In everyday life, children may encounter unexpected situations and risks. Alongside academic knowledge, it is essential to equip them with the ability to recognize potential dangers, take preventive measures, respond to hazardous situations, and protect themselves.

With this objective in mind, the Safe Kids Lab – Experiential Learning Space for Life Skills and First Aid in Schools was established at Lien Son Primary School to create an accessible and engaging learning environment where students can acquire knowledge through hands-on experiences and practical activities.

Safe Kids Lab is intended to serve not merely as a venue for a single program or festival, but as a long-term learning space within the school, providing successive generations of students with opportunities to develop practical skills as they grow.

Safe Day – Learning Through Experience, Remembering Through Practice

As part of the Safe Day Festival, following the handover and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Safe Kids Lab, students participated in basic first aid training, where they learned about and practiced essential knowledge and skills for responding to everyday situations.

Rather than learning solely through theoretical instruction, students were encouraged to observe, interact, and practice directly. This approach made safety lessons more accessible and engaging while gradually helping students develop confidence, initiative, and composure when facing situations that require action.

In addition to first aid training, students participated in experiential learning activities, tree planting, and recycling initiatives. These activities extended the spirit of Safe Day beyond the classroom, connecting practical learning with responsibility toward oneself, the community, and the environment.

Although the Safe Day Festival has concluded, the journey of Safe Kids Lab at Lien Son Primary School will continue. The space will be maintained as a place where students can regularly learn, experience, and practice essential life skills.

In the coming period, Maybank and Fly To Sky will continue working with the school to support learning sessions, training programs, and practical activities focusing on first aid, life skills, risk identification and prevention, emergency response, and personal safety.

Through these ongoing efforts, Safe Kids Lab is intended to become more than a facility donated to the school. It will gradually develop into a regularly used educational space that provides lasting value to students.

Fly To Sky hopes that these follow-up activities will make safety knowledge and life skills more accessible, engaging, and practical for students, particularly children living and studying in disadvantaged communities.

Every skill learned and practiced today will become part of the foundation that helps children grow more proactive, confident, and resilient in their studies, daily lives, and personal development.
